Every US4K surf therapy camp is themed and we pride ourselves on collaboration with the community including: nonprofit organizations, businesses, volunteer groups, clubs, and foundations. We strive to create safe spaces for children overcoming trauma between the ages of 3-18 so that they may have equal access to the transformative power of the ocean.
Additionally, we practice "Leave no Trace" policies, ensuring we leave our beaches cleaner after every event. We teach sustainability, encouraging our volunteers and young athletes to bring reusable water bottles and eliminate the use of single-use plastic at each event. With our partnership with Board & Brew, we promote healthy lifestyles by offering every child, chaperone and volunteer a healthy, gourmet sandwich, fresh fruit and nutritious snacks at every surf therapy camp.
US4K's surf therapy camps pair an adult volunteer with a youth athlete for 1:1 in-water instruction. Our staff are CPR / First Aid certified and lifeguards are skilled, certified and trained water experts. The safety of our attendees is our utmost priority.
We provide an Ohana (the Hawaiian word for family) to our youth through our strong volunteer base. We have been offering surf therapy for 15 years in San Diego County and we look forward to creating more young stewards of the outdoors, young advocates for our oceans and beaches, and empowered youth through healthy relationships on and off the beach.
